Nuke the Fridge Con 2013 Wrap up

Nuke the Fridge
2013

The Bad Nerd

Just when you thought it would be safe to hide in a refrigerator in an apocalypse, Nuke the Fridge Con, held at Frank and Son Collectibles Show, shatters your illusions. Sorry, Spielberg. Truth be told, it was primarily a trade show for collectibles, since there were no panels and tons of well…collectibles. It was no less fun or celebrated by cosplaying fans of their favorite stormtrooper, robot, or ninja turtle.

Nuke the Fridge also brought in a bucket list of talent from some of the greatest corners of nerddom. Top of the list had to be Tippi Hedren, the famed dame of Hitchcock’s nature thriller, Birds. Her recent credits also include The 4400, Raising Hope, and I Heart Huckabees. Ernie Hudson, Sean Astin, Erika Eleniak, Tracey Gold, Ray Park, and Claudia Wells from Back to the Future, among others. There’s a little something for everyone.

There was tons of fun to be had throughout the Con that took advantage of the large warehouse, including Sunday’s Star Wars Laser Tag. Every Con has giveaways and Nuke the Fridge didn’t disappoint. The first 300 attendees received Xbox Live Gold Memberships.

Only in its fourth year, Nuke the Fridge has a promising future in the Con circuit and should definitely be added to yours. And this close to Christmas, you could clean up for the nerd in your life.
