The Weekly Comic Round Up 6/22/16
DC has another Excellent Week
The Flash #1: What felt so exciting last month with the Flash:Rebirth book feels a bit slow this month. So much happened last time we saw Barry Allen that I felt a little disappointed this time around. Mind you this is the #1 issue of the series so it had all of stereotypical character background stuff you would expect. This is a book that was clearly aimed at new readers, (which is completely fine by the way. New readers need to be welcomed into comics in this way.) I was just wanting more. Of course that is until the last few pages, because then it was just awesome. Those last few pages are what DC has been excelling at during Rebirth, promising new exciting things.

Wonder Woman #1: I was most excited about this book last month and the feeling hasn't changed. The talent behind this book has done an amazing job of showing why Wonder Woman is a force to be reckoned with. There is chaos happening all around Wonder Woman in this story, but through the entire thing she is unflappable. Once again I am seeing the character the way she should be: strong, brave, and confident.

Action Comics #958: I have no idea what is going on here. This series is just straight up bonkers right now, and I love it. What ever this is building to is going to be awesome and I can not wait.

Aquaman #1: Aquaman is probably the only book post Rebirth that I have read so far that seems to have very little to do with the core issues of rebirth. Instead this book is focusing on one thing and one thing only, showing why Aquaman is a great character. If you don't know much about Aquaman start reading this now for a great introduction.

Detective Comics #935: There is a lot going on in this book. There are so many stories that it would be easy for something to get lost, but that never happens. There are two highlights in this book for me the "Belfry" and then the cliffhanger for the next issue. Get the book for yourself to find out what those are, no spoilers here, but trust me they are very cool.

I ran out of time to check out what Marvel had this week. They released a few more Civil War II tie ins and the start of the Gambit vs. Deadpool series. Hopefully I will have time to check that out before next week's article.
