Daredevil Season 2 Episode 2 Review
by Bryan Scheidler
After an amazing start to season 2, I was dying to jump in to
the second episode. Would it live up to my expectations set by the first
episode? The short answer is a resounding YES! Excellent scripting and
character development with a final fight scene that was even better than the
previous one. Episode 2 was a great episode to show us why this show isn’t just
about Daredevil, but actually about the entire team.
Episode 2 was in reality the Foggy and Karen show. Sure Matt was in it, but for the most
part it is Foggy and Karen that are taking care of business and getting things
done. Foggy shows once again why he is a fantastic lawyer; honestly the show is
making a case for him to be the better lawyer of the two. When Foggy finally
gets his courage up he seems unstoppable and the only thing Matt has on him is
that he is a human lie detector.
Karen also had an amazing episode. We once again see that
she is as vital to the success of the Nelson and Murdoch law firm as both Matt
and Foggy. More than that though she sees right through the BS that Matt and
Foggy are telling her, but respects them enough not force ultimatums on them.
Honestly Matt should have told her his secret by now, but I am really hoping
they let her figure it out on her own because they are clearly showing us she
is smart enough to put it together.

Finally we really got to see more of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher
this episode. Still very little dialogue from him, but we get a better
understanding of who he decides deserves to be punished. His interaction with
the Pawn Shop owner is very telling in this manner. The petty crimes are not
his concern, he is guilty of these himself really, and he is only concerned
with crimes of depravity and evil of the highest order. I am sure we will learn
that he respects what Daredevil is trying to do, but thinks he lacks the
conviction to really do what needs to be done to make change, only time will
tell.

Finally, the last thing to note from the episode is Foggy’s
line to Karen during the climax of the episode, “You can’t go out there, it’s a
warzone”! Everybody take a shot!
