An Emotionally Honest Tony Stark and the Origin of 'Jinkies'

Scooby Apocalypse #2: Fun, that is what this comic is to me. Maybe it is due to a huge dose of nostalgia, but I am just loving this comic. It isn't just a rehash of the old cartoon but it still hits all the things you want from Scooby and the gang. Everything from the friendship of Shaggy and Scooby to the odd words used by each member of the team, even the Apocalypse that they are facing has a hint of familiarity to it. No it isn't a bunch of people in rubber masks, but inside the monsters are people and there are very real consequences for the team as they realize this. Love this book and I can not recommend it enough. Why aren't you reading this yet?

Superman #1: Who is Superman? What does it mean to have that power and control it? What would you do if Superman was your dad and you have as much power as him? These are the questions that circle around the Superman Rebirth comic. This book provides a great point of view to the super hero world, one that I can't remember reading before. Jon, the son of Superman and Lois from another Earth is learning what it means to have powers, while at the same time learning what it means to be the son of Superman. I have some ideas about where is story is heading and I hope I am right, because it promises to be very cool.

Batman #1: You want to know why Batman is awesome, READ THIS COMIC. Honestly I don't know what else to say. I could talk about the story that is being introduced here or how the art is gritty and just feels like gotham, but the truth is this comic shows Batman being Batman, perfectly.

Titans Rebirth: Just like the Flash Rebirth, this feels more closely tied to the main storyline than some of the other books. Unlike the others though, this book feels like it's missing the second half of the book. I understand it is just the first book and it is a reintroduction of the Titans from Wally's days, but it still feels like the last few pages are missing. The art is amazing and the nostalgia I felt for these characters has me really excited for what is to come, I just wanted more in this first book. Of course, maybe that is the point

Civil War II #2: With the start of this book I sighed heavily as it felt like the writers were once again on a path to make Tony Stark the bad guy. But I have to admit, they have done a really good job so far making the characters feel honest and level headed. Tony himself is very honest about how his actions are being perceived and to be honest I don't really fault him for what he is doing. Great art and a surprisingly smart story have me eager for book #3 to get here.

Civil War II #2 via Comixology

Transformers Till All Are One #1: This comic is a tough one. The general thought behind a new comic series is that it should be easy for a reader to pick it up without really knowing what came before it, but with this new Transformers series that isn't the case. Let me just say this book looks amazing and is written very well, but even with all of that, I had no idea what the hell was going on. Unlike the new storylines from Marvel and DC, this one gives no hints to what is going on in the world of Transformers. Instead of feeling like issue #1 of a series it feels like we have just been dropped in the middle of a very long book and should already be up to date on what is going on. The reading chart in the back of this issue listing everything that came before this proves my point. I have been meaning to get into the Transformers comics for a while and this seemed like a good place to start, but now I feel like I need to go back and read the last 5-10 years of comics just to understand what is happening. So if you don't like starting in the middle of the story, you've been warned.
