News From Around the Nerd

Thor: The Dark World

This week gave us many wonderful things in the Nerddom, and one of the greatest things was a brand new trailer for Thor! This movie is really looking good and I personally can not wait. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!

For some detailed screen grabs of the trailer head over to our friends at comicbookmovie.com and see all the glories moments that went by too fast!

Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel

If that wasn't enough Thor or you were looking for something a little milder than the first Disney Marvel mash up is what you need. Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel features the two main boys and their friends helping Spiderman, Thor, Ironman, and Hulk battle their foes. Besides the shoes normal villain Hanz Doffenschmirtzm the heroes will also have to battle Venom, M.O.D.A.K., Red Skull, and Whiplash. I know you are as excited as I am, so relax and watch the trailer below.

Kick Ass 2: Why Can't we all get along?

So this week the strange tale of the upcoming movie Kick Ass 2 took another twist. After Jim Carrey's original statement about not going to support the movie due to the violence there was some initial commentary on all sides about what he said. Well since it has been a few weeks Chloe Moretz has now got in on the action. Do you agree with her? Do you think she is out of line? Do you care?

D23: No it isn't a Mighty Ducks sequel

Imagine if Comic Con was only Disney projects. Did you do it? If so then you have a good idea of what D23 is. This Expo that happens every couple of years is Disney big headline grabbing mini comic con. This year we got to see a road map for Disney's movies for the next few years. What did we think? What was announced? Here are some recaps from the expo for you to go through and see for yourself.

Day 1

Day 2

and now with the bad news

Bray Studios is in Danger

If you are familiar with movies like Alien, The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, The Rocky Horror Picture show and TV shows like the classic Doctor Who, then Bray Studios is a big part of your life and you don't even know it. Bray Studios has been an important filming location in the UK for the past 60 years and it is now in danger. The studio has more history than we had time to go into this week, but it is important to check it out. Also take a second and look into what is happening to it

Tim Cook, Apple CEO in Trouble?

So he isn't really in trouble, this story is more funny than anything. The Apple board is upset about the speed of innovation at Apple and thinks Tim Cook needs to do something about it. Apparently creating 3 new product markets in the last 10 years isn't enough. Don't you have enough of my money already Apple? I can't give you more of it any faster than I already am! So no big changes or shake ups happening, it is just a funny story you should give a read.

The Gods Must be Crazy!

This week in Nerdology we give a damn good try at introducing you to the world of mythology, specifically Greek mythology and the crazy messed up gods of Olympus. For those trying to follow along at home, here is a family tree to take notes with.

Mythology has always been a big part of society and culture. Mythology was not just a product of religion, but also science and politics. With many of the ancient mythologies there was a strong correlation between nature and the gods due to mans need to an explain what was happening around him.  A great link to get a really in depth look at most of the gods and goddesses is The Official Guide to the Mythological Universe. It has more information then you probably wanted, but if we missed something you were interested about then this is a good place to look for answers.

Percy Jackson 2: The Search for More Money

This weeks Nerd Spot we give you a look into the world of Percy Jackson. With the sequel to the star studded under performing movie and hit novel series opening in theaters this past weekend we thought we better explain to everyone why they need to see this movie. So explain we shall, and see this movie you should!

After a trailer like that how have you not already planned to go see this? After you finish our podcast that is.
