Episode 6 Show Notes - Secret Agent Men

Agents, Secret Agents, and Amazing Agents

This week on Good Nerd Bad Nerd, we bring you the best and worst that the world of secret agents has to offer. We dish on our favorite and least favorite cars, gadgets, and movies. Then we give you an in-depth look at one of the best shows currently on TV and one of the best secret Agents around, Archer. Plus we give you the latest news from around the nerd.

Richard Matheson

Richard Matheson could easily be the writer that turned you on to science fiction, horror, and thrillers. The sad fact of the matter is that you probably didn't recognize his name. While that may be true, everyone who has paid any small amount of attention to pop culture in the last 40 years knows his work.  He is responsible for some of the best sci-fi movies of our time, not to mention some of the most iconic Twilight Zone episodes to have ever been created.  We at Good Nerd Bad Nerd consider Richard Matheson to be one of the greats and so do people like Stephen King, a man who credits Matheson as one of his biggest inspirations. Please do yourself a favor and check out his wikipedia article, then go and check out his books, you will thank us!

News around the Nerd

First up we deal with the tragic yet somehow completely underwhelming death of Cat Woman that we previously reported on. Turns out DC was trying to pull a fast one on us and it fooled almost nobody. Nice try DC, although the conversation about what Batman was going to do once he found out was pretty hilarious.

NEW MICKEY MOUSE CARTOONS! Why are you still reading this? go and check them out right now! You will be filled with a little nostalgia but also a whole new level of glee at what these new crop of artists are putting out.

Happy News for nerds everywhere, mainly that there is hope for them yet. George Lucas tied the knot to long time girlfriend, Mellody Hobson. Congratulations you two, we wish you the best, and may the force be with you, HA!

Another Mouse is coming back to the small screen with a glorious rebirth! Danger Mouse is making a comeback! The British secret agent, who also happens to be a mouse is being reborn and we could not be more excited for this! If you don't believe me, just check out the show opening, and this episode on IMDB.

The Continuing Adventures of Archer: Agent of ISIS

To best understand Archer it probably helps to be familiar with the work of its main voice actor H. Jon Benjamin. He has been consistantly putting out some of the best animated entertainment for nearly 20 years. Starting back in 1995 with Dr.Katz he went on to help make Home Movies, Bob's Burgers, Frisky Dingo, and many more. But the crowning acheivement for Benjamin and the whole production crew is Archer. Archer can best be described as Arrested Development with Spies, but for a better description here is what tv.com has to say.

"Sterling Archer is the world's most daunting spy. He works for ISIS, a spy agency run by his mother. In between dealing with his boss and his coworkers - one of whom is his ex-girlfriend - Archer manages to annoy or seduce everyone that crosses his path. His antics are only excusable because at the end of the day, he always manages to thwart the crises that threaten mankind."

There is too much that could be said, so the best thing you can do for yourself is head over to Netflix and check it out. Seasons 1-3 are already there and season 4 will be there soon. On top of that Season 5 is in the works, so we will have some new Archer on the way very soon.

But for your viewing pleasure, a compilation of Archer's voice-mail pranks!
